Can I Vote?
You don’t have to be British to vote. Many residents have the right to vote in the UK.
Complete our tool below and you will receive an email confirming your voter eligibility.
Some migrant communities have full voting rights, whereas for others, their right to vote depends on where they live in the UK and when they started living here.
Make sure to complete the tool more than once if you have more than one citizenship as these may entitle you to different voting rights.
Please note that all voting rights are conditional on possession of leave to remain in the UK. For more details, check the Electoral Commission guide.
At the end of this page, you will also find a printable graph on who can vote.
Why register to vote?
Politicians only get elected to implement the policies affecting us because of the power they borrow from each individual voter. At every election, we see politicians making pledges to the public on how they will improve our lives. Yet, time and time again, we see politicians and political parties making proposals that will only make the lives of migrants more difficult in the UK.
1 in 6 usual residents in England and Wales were born outside of the UK. We make up a significant size of the population! Yet, our interests are ignored. Only 66% of eligible EU and Commonwealth residents are registered to vote and over 1 million migrant residents have no right to vote at all!
That’s why we need migrants across the UK to get voting now.
