We are Migrant Democracy Project

We believe every resident, no matter where they are from, should have equal access to democratic participation in the UK. We want to empower migrants to actively participate in politics and shape a fairer immigration system. Agree?

Our priorities

MIGRANT-LED ADVOCACY

There are few migrant voices in democratic reform initiatives in the UK. Our organisation is dedicated to and led by migrants with the aim of improving our democratic engagement across the UK.

BRIDGING THE MIGRATION-DEMOCRACY GAP

Informed by lived experience, all our initiatives will create the link between democratic engagement and advocating for policy change in the interest of migrant communities. We work in partnership with organisations like Polish Migrants Organise for Change (POMOC) in advocating for migrant justice through democratic participation.

EMPOWERING MIGRANT LEADERS

Our initiatives will increase awareness and encourage migrants to participate in UK democracy as they develop their social and political networks in the UK. We’ll train the next generation of migrant leaders.

Our work

ADVOCACY

Over 1.5 million UK residents are disenfranchised.

Every resident, no matter where they are from, should have a democratic say where they live.

REGISTRATION

Migrants are less likely to register to vote and vote.

We encourage migrants to register to vote through registration drives and accessible information.

ENGAGEMENT

Migrants are underrepresented in politics.

We connect migrants with elected representatives to build community power and inform policy.

1 in 8 UK residents were not born in the UK.
Together, let’s make our voices count.
