We are Migrant Democracy Project

The Government has just announced the Representation of the People Bill 2026!

In this Bill, the Government makes positive steps to modernise our democracy by lowering the voting age to 16, expanding the list of acceptable photo IDs, and implementing some automated voter registration methods.

But! Do you see what is missing!?

That's right! Despite our many many asks, the Bill makes no provisions for extending the right to vote to all residents.

When Scotland and Wales lowered the voting age to 16, they also used the opportunity to extend the franchise to all residents.

The Government can follow suit. But that requires you to write to your MP and ask them to table an amendment to the Elections Bill.

We are building power with migrants at home in the UK to shape a society rooted in justice, reflecting our needs and interests. We believe every resident, no matter where they are from, should have equal access to democracy.

1 in 6 UK residents were not born in the UK.
Together, let’s make our voices count.
