Spokesperson Network

Our Spokesperson Network is a space for UK residents with experience of migration to represent and become ambassadors for MDP’s Our Home, Our Vote campaign.

As a participant, you will commit to an 8-month programme to learn about UK politics, personal storytelling for political advocacy, interviewing for media engagements, campaigning techniques, and more!

The deadline for applications will be the 31st August 2025. 

Successful applicants will be interviewed from 1st -3rd September 2025.

Who is this Programme For?

We are looking for those living across the UK who are aged 16 or older, and are first-generation migrants to apply and become a spokesperson through our programme. These include: 

  1. Those with no right to vote in England and Northern Ireland;

  2. EU citizens who entered the UK pre-2021 and have kept their right to vote in local elections;

  3. EU citizens who have lost their right to vote following the Elections Act;

  4. Newly enfranchised residents in Scotland and Wales;

  5. Commonwealth citizens with full voting rights, and;

  6. 16-17 year olds with no or partial voting rights.

What Will I Learn?

We will be providing training aimed at: 

  • Exploring the political landscape of the UK and our local areas, looking at who to target and when;

  • Equipping members with campaign talking points, building confidence to help navigate conversations and debates around the campaign; 

  • Preparing members for media engagements;

  • Developing members’ interview and media engagement skills, including talking to journalists for written and live media interviews, and;  

  • Training members on campaigning techniques including hosting letter writing campaigns, lobbying MPs and other calls to action.
