Following our West Midlands chapter launch in April, we are excited to get together on 10th October for our Our Home Our Vote social, with games, poetry, and an exclusive showing of the new short documentary on Migrant Democracy Project. The afternoon will be an opportunity for the community to get to know each other and decide how we want to work together on the migrant vote going forward.

For the poetry section, we will be joined by Dr. Shirin Housee, who will explore with us how poetry can be used as a tool to explore common themes that unite our chapter in the West Midlands. Whether you want to see where your writing takes you, or just be part of the discussion, you are welcome to join. We will then hear from MPower leader Loraine Masiya Mponela about her latest poetry collection My Accent (2026). Loraine sees poetry as a means to bring clarity and attention to complex social issues, building community together to counter the personal and societal challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. This is just the beginning of the West Midlands chapter, where together we are building a better future for all.
