MDP Belfast: Migrant Voices in UK Politics

Migrant Democracy Project is building chapters across the UK, and our next chapter is Belfast!!

On 2nd May, to mark the launch of our Belfast chapter, MDP is delivering an interactive workshop at Olive Tree House in collaboration with Politics in Action, all about building community power, understanding UK political systems and voting rights, and campaigning for everyone, no matter where they come from, to have the right to vote, with an exciting opportunity at the end.

The session is free and lunch will be provided. All are welcome and several organisations across Northern Ireland are coming along too.

This workshop will delve into British politics to give an understanding of how the system works and your place in it. Asking questions about who holds power, we will discuss the roles of elected representatives and how we can hold them accountable with the vote.

Are there challenges your community is facing that you want resolved? Perhaps it is a challenge that another community is also facing? Could you come together to demand change?

MDP will provide many points of discussion on how we can build unity and be active in politics and democracy. The biggest way we can do this is by demanding that everyone has the right to vote through the Our Home Our Vote campaign.

Whether you're new to UK politics or ready to campaign for voting rights, this workshop is for you. Together, we’ll learn, connect, and organise for a more inclusive democracy.

This is our home. Let’s make our voices heard.
